The idea to have an encore screening of the ‘Mount Kinabalu – North Borneo 1961’ was mooted by several members of The Sabah Society in appreciation of Professor E.J.H John Corner who provided the footage of the film in 1961.
A special screening of ‘Mount Kinabalu – North Borneo 1961’ was requested by The Sabah Society to the Borneo Eco Film Festival after it premiered at the festival on 22nd September 2017. The private screening for the members of the society only was held on 17 October 2017, Tuesday from 1930 to 2200 at the Secretariat of the Sabah Society, which is located on the 1st Floor, Damai Plaza.
The idea to have an encore screening of the ‘Mount Kinabalu – North Borneo 1961’ was mooted by several members of The Sabah Society in appreciation of Professor E.J.H John Corner who provided the footage of the film in 1961. It was also to commemorate the visit of John Corner to Jesselton, whose expeditions to Mount Kinabalu in 1961 and 1964 were made possible with the assistance of The Sabah Society. BEFF officially wrote in to The Royal Society in London to acquire special permission for the private screening.

Dr Ravi Mandalam is a radiologist by profession and has been working as a consultant at the KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital and its forerunner Sabah Medical Centre since 1994. He has a longstanding interest in Mount Kinabalu. Apart from having climbed the mountain several times, he has also authored and co-authored many books on Kinabalu, namely, The Hugh Low Trail, East Kinabalu, 40th Anniversary Monograph on the Royal Society Expeditions, The Kotal Route Sketches and The Bowen Route Chronicles. He is a life member of the Sabah Society and currently the President of the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu. He will present a talk on his many varied experiences in trekking through the remote parts of Mt Kinabalu.
