SUARA PUBLIKA is a series of public workshops and talks on filmmaking and environmental issues. Exciting, engaging and educational, PUBLIKA sessions are designed to be casual and fun learning experiences where we can discover the inter-connections between filmmaking and environmental conservation through the stories of some of the best organisations and individuals working in Sabah, Borneo and Malaysia.
The Publika Programme aims to harness the power of film and storytelling to engage and connect urban communities in Kota Kinabalu, especially the youth, with sustainable practices and inspire ecologically conscientious everyday actions. Activities combine film and high-impact visual storytelling with hands-on experiential learning to disseminate new knowledge, enable discussion of issues, and offer practical solutions that can be taken on a day-to-day basis. The films selected in the Cinema Programme will be used as the basis for engaging with Publika participants – the issues, conflicts and solutions presented in the films will be related to a Sabahan (and Bornean) context to open-up participants’ thinking of sustainable ways forward in their local communities.
PUBLIKA workshops and talks are open to the public and suitable for all ages.
